The bill will be heard in full committee today, Mon, 1/30, 1/2 hour after adjournment.....approximately 2pm. This bill protects Virginians from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which was signed into United States law on December 31, 2011 by President Barack Obama. "The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces." Support HB 1160:"Unlawful Detention of US Citizens -- SUPPORT" Unlawful detention of U.S. citizens; prevents any agency, etc., from assisting in investigation. Prevents any agency, political subdivision, employee, or member of the military of Virginia from assisting an agency or the armed forces of the United States in the investigation, prosecution, or detainment of a United States citizen in violation of the Constitution of Virginia.     Please call or email the Delegates below and tell them to support Bob Marshall’s HB 1160.  This is a 'freedom bill!  It prevents the unlawful detention of U.S. citizens!
